Our client a private-equity held, global supplier of complex electro-mechanical systems used for inertial measurement and control of sophisticated airborne and ground-based platforms. Current worldwide sales are above £100m and expected to increase significantly in core market areas over the next few years as strong current market positions are further developed. They are located in both the US and UK, across four sites.

 

A vacancy has arisen for an Assistant Procurement Manager which will be for a fixed term of 16 months.  The role will be responsible for converting the strategic needs of the business into effective procurement plans and driving improvements in a distinct set of supply chain activities.

 

Job Purpose

To carry out a range of procurement/supply chain activities within the Military business area, supporting effective business operations, being responsible for placement and subsequent management of contracts and orders and also a number of strategic and key suppliers.

 

Key Responsibility Areas

Execute supplier and product procurement strategies. Build strong relationships with customers and understand their requirements. Develop and maintain strong relationships within the internal/external supply base. Agree project parameters with suppliers and monitor project progress. Evaluate source viability and support selection processes, driving effective inventory management within the supply chain. Produce and assess procurement plans. Formulate, monitor and modify contract terms and conditions. Ensure contract compliance at all times. Carry out complex specialist activities for the business.

 

The ideal candidate will have a detailed understanding of life cycle management, demonstrable experience and knowledge of procurement best practice, and have experience in building effective relationships within national and international supply chains.  You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and be MCIP qualified.  This role will require frequent UK and occasional overseas travel.
